What is asset tokenization?


Before explaining how it works, it's essential to understand what asset tokenization is. Tokenization converts an asset into small digital parts called tokens, integrated into a public blockchain, which is a secure and shared digital database with transparent transactions.

A token represents a physical or digital asset and its value comes from that asset. This allows more people to invest in an accessible and secure way, making it easier to buy and sell on digital platforms. Although it comes at a cost, it's useful for valuable assets.


Types of Tokenized Assets


Fungible Tokens:

These tokens represent assets that are interchangeable and divisible. These include cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin (BTC) and Ether (ETH), where each unit has the same value and can be exchanged for another equal unit.

Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT):

These tokens represent unique assets that are not exchangeable or divisible. Each NFT has unique attributes and values. These include digital art or unique goods.


In short, fungible tokens are like money that you can easily exchange, while NFTs are like unique works of art that don't know
they can exchange in the same way.


Asset tokenization process:


Every asset, tangible or intangible, can be tokenized if it has value. Let's imagine a building. It is a real estate asset. We can divide that building into as many parts as we want. Each part will have a certain value. If the building as a whole is worth 100,000€ and we divide it into 100 parts, each part will have a value of 1,000€. Now the building is represented in 100 tokens, and each of those tokens is worth €1,000.
Although this is just one example, it helps us understand the basic concept. This is about the tokenization of a real estate asset, but now it appears
another very important aspect, investment.


The investor can buy tokens that represent a real estate asset. This is your gateway to the tokenization market. The investor's profits can come from renting the building, and are distributed to everyone who owns tokens.
The blockchain guarantees the security and recording of these transactions. Tokens can be sold publicly to any registered user in an authorized marketplace, or privately.


Tokenizing an asset follows these steps:


1. Select the asset: Choose what to tokenize (real estate, art, etc.).
2. Verify and value: Determine its value and how many tokens to create.
3. Create tokens: Generate digital tokens on a blockchain.
4. Distribute tokens: Sell the tokens to investors.
5. Manage tokens: Record all transactions on the blockchain to ensure transparency and security.
